I’m very lucky to get to test all these different bikes out for our mag; different weights, materials, wheel sizes and designs, but I have to admit, after seeing the first promotional video of this bike, I was really excited about the prospect of testing it. Intense has always been a bit of a dream bike of mine, stemming back to the old-skool days of DH, when the M1 came out and just seemed years ahead of it’s time. I never got to own or even have a go on one in those older days, much to my dismay. Earlier this year I tried out the Spider 29 carbon, but as this was a shop test bike, it came with poxy xc rims and tyres, so wasn’t really a true test of it’s ability and maybe a bit too xc for Enduro racing, I had it for a race and just ended up puncturing, a lot!

UK firm Hope Technology have made some changes to their top end Tech series brakes, with the production of the revised Tech Evo system, now called the Tech 3 E4 and aimed firmly at the Enduro market. Hope kindly sent us two pairs for testing, so Trev and Jim put them through their paces for 2 months over some of the toughest terrain in Europe. Would long standing Hope user Jim see an improvement with the new design, and how would did they rate against other high end brands.

If you asked me to name my favourite enduro race of all time it may come as a surprise that despite being lucky enough to have followed enduro all over Europe this season, my favourite event is a little closer to home, the legendary Dudes Of Hazzard/No Fuss ‘This is Enduro’ race. It was just the most fun I have ever had, racing on the stunning trails above Kinlochleven deep in the Scottish Highlands.  For 2013 the Dudes once again paired up with No Fuss Events to hold the ‘Spirit of Enduro World Champs’, it was a done deal for me, I was going!

Last October 26th -27th in the coastal town of Pineda de Mar (Barcelona) the 1st Enduro Pineda Rocs celebration took place. It was an event that consisted of an Enduro race BTT and an exhibition of products related to the discipline.
