The Lab: RockShox Reverb Stealth 170 mm Dropper Post Review
Our global test team has been pushing products to the very limit on the world’s toughest trails. In The Lab, durability is rewarded and weaknesses have nowhere to hide. This time, we tested the RockShox Reverb Stealth 170 mm dropper post.
Since the release of the RockShox Reverb in 2010, a lot has happened in the industry, which is why the 2016 edition of the classic dropper post has undergone the biggest update yet. Whilst on the outside the only visible change is an all-new golden RockShox logo, the internals of the dropper have been entirely revisited, giving the 2016 Reverb a brand-new mechanical core. New SKF seals and increased bushing overlap should provide for overall better reliability. However, what especially tall riders will really appreciate are the newly increased drop lengths. The revamped Reverb is now also available in 150 mm and 170 mm options in all current seat tube standard diameters.
We spent the whole of our season on the 170 mm version, which left us truly impressed by its performance! At no point in our nine-month testing period have we had an issue with it. Its functionality has remained unchanged; all our doubts were cleared. The longer 170 version is a true blessing for riders with long legs; the difference to the 150 version provides a noticeable increase of legroom, leaving us with a welcome boost of confidence on the trails. Yes, there is a wide range of alternatives on the market… but the Reverb always manages to amaze and convince us more than any other dropper post.
