The Lab: Origin Raww LE Flat Pedals Review
Our global test team has been pushing products to the very limit on the world’s toughest trails. In The Lab, durability is rewarded and weaknesses have nowhere to hide. This time, we tested the Origin Raww LE flat pedals.
There certainly isn’t a shortage of flat pedals on the market, yet most of us have probably never heard of the Origin Raww LE. 100% handmade in Bulgaria, they promise a more than interesting price/performance ratio with a reasonable 99 € tag. Weighing in at 380 g, these flats are on the lighter end of the scale and can easily stand up against the more expensive alternatives the competition offers. The CNC’d aluminium pedal body is rather small with a 100 x 90 mm, non-concave designed platform. Eleven interchangeable steel pins on each side of the platform provide a great amount of grip in all conditions. The external pins are longer than the internal ones, simulating a concave feeling under the shoe sole. The steel axle comes with PTFE plain bearings and feels rather heavy, but still works effortlessly after eight months of solid riding.
Should any sort of issues arise at some point of their working life, the Origin pedals are easy to disassemble and rebuild with a handy rebuild kit costing just 12 €. Having said that, we had quite some trouble removing the shorter pins, as we struggled undoing the tiny 1.5 mm grub-screw pins. All-in-all a great, solid flat pedal, and a fantastic alternative to the better-known models available on the market.
