Shimano release new PRO Koryak Dropper Post and S-PHYRE XC race shoes
Shimano have always been a superbrand of the cycling world, not only do they battle for supremacy in the drivetrain arena, but they also have an extensive line of components and clothing options with their in house brands PRO and S-PHYRE. We check out their new product releases at EUROBIKE.
It has certainly been a busy year for Shimano and they have already released a lot of interesting products. We have already extensively covered the release of their new M8050 Di2 XT drivetrain and Shimano Steps E8000 MTB motor, but they still have some exciting new products on display at the show, including a new PRO Koryak dropper post, S-PHYRE XC race shoes and extending their Di2 componentry range.
The new PRO Koryak dropper post
We’ve long been anticipating the first Shimano dropper seat post and finally it’s here, under their PRO components ‘Koryak’ banner. A replaceable air cartridge supplies the lift for 120 mm of infinitely adjustable travel, available in 30.9 and 31.6 mm diameters and weighing in at 520 g. A ‘one bolt clamping system’ head strives to make saddle attachment and adjustment quick and simple and the post uses internal cable routing. Shimano offer the choice of two different levers for the cable operated post, a slimline grip lever and a bigger shifter style lever for those with a 1x setup. Although pricing is not confirmed at this point it is expected to be under € 200, and we are sure it will be popular in the OEM market. We look forward to testing one soon.
Shimano S-PHYRE XC9 shoe XC and CX race shoe
Hard to miss in it’s vibrant blue and fluro yellow options, the new XC9 S-PHYRE shoe offers more than just razzmatazz. The S-PHYRE XC9 shoe is designed for when you want to go flat out off-road, developed in partnership with Shimano’s athletes their focus is locked on high speed performance. Weighing just 325g (size 42) and with a fully carbon sole, there are no compromises. BOA IP1 dials ensure precise adjustment and the aggressive sole features the results of a hook up with Michelin providing no – nonsense grip, and a wide channel for fast and unrestricted pedal engagement. When the going gets really slippery, there is the option of fitting two extra-long 18 mm climbing spikes.
Shimano expand Di2 specific component range
In celebration of bringing Di2 technology to the lower price point XT level, Shimano’s in house componentry brand PRO have extended their Di2 specific product range. The new PRO Koryak Di2 bar has exit ports at the grips and stem to allow Di2 shifter cables secretly through the bars for an ultra clean look – at a lower price point than the PRO Tharsis bar.
For pricing of the new Shimano range you will have to consult your local dealer but we will get a PRO Koryak Dropper Post and X-Phyre XC shoes on test as soon as possible to see how they perform.
