SCOTT Highlights 2017 – light, lighter, Spark
Nino Schurter delivered the goods to cinch an Olympic gold medal on board the brand new SCOTT Spark in Rio. But let’s be honest; it was a victory that was never really in question either, as the Swiss rider proved his domination once again. However, Nino won’t be the only rider charging off into the sunset on the all-new Spark; set to come in three models, the Spark is an affordable bit of kit for virtually any rider.
At this year’s EUROBIKE, SCOTT displayed a handful of new XC whips, including the brand new SCOTT Spark in its three models with varying travel and wheel sizes. Each model goes back to a super lightweight carbon frame with a novel rear suspension design. As a frame kit, the Spark weighs in at 1,749 g including the rear shock and all the hardware. Although if figure doesn’t mean much to you, it’ll suffice to say that it’s a few hundred grams less than any other comparable bike from the competition

While the Spark RC model is a fully fledged racing whippet, more moderate ambitions can certainly be satisfied with the ten further models that boast 120 mm of travel. Rolling on either 27.5″ or 29″ wheels, the 120 mm travel bike is compatible with 1x or 2x drivetrains (unlike the RC model), and they also have less aggressive geometry.
