Pro Bike Check: Fabian Scholz’s FOCUS SAM 1.0 Team Issue
Just a couple weeks ago we introduced you to the Focus Team Trail (click here). Now we want to present you the bike of the guys even more accurately. The Focus SAM 1.0 Team Issue. For this we have chosen the bike of the team manager and current overall leader of the Specialized SRAM Enduro Series Fabian Scholz.
Often the little details make the bikes of the professional racers more interesting. Also the bike of Fabian has some interesting features to offer.
The most important part of each bike is the frame. Fabi is riding a regular FOCUS SAM 1.0 frame in size M which everybody could buy. Only the derailleur hanger is a prototype part made of steel, this is even stronger, thus reducing the susceptibility to defects on the hard trails of the Enduro World Series. To reduce the overall weight of the bike, over the entire bike titanium screws are used.
With the suspension, each rider has personal preferences. Fabi likes it progressive and therefore he rides the RockShox Monarch Plus shock with four volume spacers. In the RockShox Pike fork he has mounted 1.5 tokens. One spacer gave him too little, two too much progression, the solution: he cut the second token in half!
The air pressure of his fork, is adjusted to suit the race track. As a rule of thumb, the harder and longer the stages, the softer he rides the fork to prevent arm pump.
We wish Fabi all the best for the next race of the season!
