A Closer Look At Flanders: The Koppenberg
There are very few climbs in modern bike racing that can bring a bike racer to his knees. With the evolution of intelligent gearings, the steepest climbs have been tamed, well, as much as they can be. The Koppenberg, however, defies all technological advances and takes us back to a time when plodding upward on foot was just as common of a means of forward movement as pedaling.

A good sign for the upcoming northern classics, Tyler Farrar sprinted to third in the 73rd Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday. Belgian star Tom Boonen won the sprint, with Italian Daniele Bennati crossing the line second just ahead of Farrar, who rounded out the podium with a solid performance by Team Garmin-Cervélo.

Belgian road classic cycling season has begun
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad kicked off the 2011 Belgian road classic cycling season.
Garmin-Cervélo had three riders in the top fifty on Saturday, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, with Martijn Maaskant claiming the team’s best placing in 7th followed by Thor Hushovd in 33rd and Andreas Klier in 34th. The following day in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne things were looking good as the race came down to a bunch sprint but Tyler Farrar got boxed in as the sprint opened up and manage 4th place.
