Baptism of Mud at Castelli CX Debut

StarCrossed, the first race of the North American Cyclocross Trophy series, seemed threatened by sunny afternoon skies and uncomfortably-warm temperatures. Die-hard cyclocross fans sighed, regrettably leaving rain gear and umbrellas in the car. But the host city was Seattle and, when it comes to rain, the area rarely disappoints.

By the time the Elite women were on the course, the clouds had opened up and generously unleashed torrents of rain. After forty minutes of racing, the grassy areas were churned into slippery ruts—perfect course grooming for the upcoming Elite men’s race.

Riding for Castelli USA, Molly Cameron put the newly-developed Castelli custom CX suit to the test. Featuring a unique 3/4 sleeve construction for comfort in warmer temperatures, the lycra suit was perfectly suited for the mild, wet weather. A long sleeve thermal version of the CX suit is also available for racing in colder climates.

In the end, visiting Française des Jeux rider, Francis Mourey, took the win. As points leader going into the next day’s race, he was given the Series Leader CX suit provided by Castelli. Look for our custom CX suits at NACT events across the nation this fall.
