Kayakers Battle the Stout Rapids of West Virginia’s Red Creek

Stout rapids meet scientific narration in a grassroots documentary of kayakers battling their way down West Virginia’s Red Creek.

Turn your stoke up to 11 as some of West Virginia’s toughest kayakers take on the Class V rapids of the Red Creek. This half-hour documentary from YouTube’s Dumpster Fire Road Trips takes viewers on a journey through the “mysterious, spooky presence” of the Dolly Sods Wilderness.

The video combines the creek’s “spicy” rapids with a geologist’s explanation of the landscape.

“That river is trying to carve up and lower a high part of the landscape that should not be there,” said Dr. Philip Prince, who specializes in the geology of the Appalachian Mountains.

If you love pro-level whitewater kayaking combined with gorgeous landscapes, don’t miss this one.
