French Skier Wins FIS World Cup, Breaks France’s 20-Year Drought
2021 was a very, very exciting year for France in the FIS World Cup. But perhaps it was more exciting for Alexis Pinterault.
Earlier last month, Alexis Pinturault became the first Frenchman to win the FIS Alpine World Cup’s Big Globe in more than 20 years.
It came down to the World Cup finals (which also happened to be Pinturault’s 30th birthday), “where he had the chance to prove once and for all that he’s one of the best ski racers ever in the sport’s history,” Bollé wrote.
And the hype was real. The 2021 FIS World Cup ski season was grueling, competitive, and full of uncertainty.
This 17-minute documentary follows Pinturault through his training regimen, travel and race schedule, as well as decisions about his gear. He also discusses what goes through his mind as he steps up to each gate.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the FIS Ski World Cup, a look at a World Cup athlete, and a glimpse at how much it takes to win.
