A ‘Husky Hunter’ Talks Layering for Cold Hunts
Hint: It’s funny and accurate.
If you’ve ever sweated through your layers on the initial climb of a hunt, this short video from the Randy Newberg crew is for you.
Videographer Michael Parente self-identifies as a husky hunter, and he spends a lot of time afield in gnarly conditions. Initially, he’d start the hunt in all of his layers and end up being cold once the elevation was gained by foot.
But, his time out West taught him a few tricks of the trade. You will see that Parente rocks Sitka Gear in the field, a brand that often crushes our “Best Of” lists here at GearJunkie.
And layering is certainly a part of how we hunters stay safe in the mountains. So, thinking about how to layer best for our own body types and metabolism is certainly something to nail down prior to heading out.
I won’t share his secrets ahead of time, but they’re great. And it’s a short watch — the video is less than 4 minutes long.
