Italian tiremaker Pirelli has announced a new road bike tire called the Pirelli P7 Sport. According to Pirelli, the P7 Sport now completes its road tire lineup which is made up of the Cinturato Velo and P Zero Race.
The P7 Sport inherits the same Pro Compound used in the P Zero Race tire ridden by the pros at the Tour de France. It has noticeably more sipes for better grip, especially in colder and wet conditions.
Sitting at the lower end, the P7 Sport is designed as an all-around tire with a focus on durability and high mileage. They’re ideal for training rides or to be ridden over rougher surfaces. To achieve that, Pirelli uses a 60 TPI nylon casing combined with a cut-resistant fabric underneath the thread, called the TechBELT for superior puncture protection.
The claimed weight for a 24c is 250g and goes all the way up to 330g for a 32c size.
