Pinarello Road Bikes Guide : Which Model is For You?
Pinarello is an Italian bike brand based in Treviso. It was founded by Giovanni Pinarello in 1953.
Today, Pinarello is run by the founder’s son, Fausto Pinarello. In 2016, Pinarello sold its majority stake to L Catterton, a US-based private equity group that is partly owned by the luxury brand conglomerate, LVMH.
In recent years, their bikes are well-known for their contemporary design that maintains the curvy tubes while still achieving the aerodynamics of a modern road bike design.
Pinarello Road Bikes in Pro Racing
In the past decade, Pinarello has won the most Grand Tours among all bike brands with Ineos-Grenadiers (formerly Team Sky). Since 2012, Pinarello bikes won 7 Tour de France, 3 Giro d’Italia, and 2 Vuelta Espana starting with Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Egan Bernal, and Tao Geoghegan Hart.
The wins first started with the Dogma 65.1, followed by Dogma F8, F10, and F12. The latest version is the Dogma F ridden by Ineos-Grenadiers.
Pinarello Road Bikes Line Up
Unlike many other bike brands, Pinarello doesn’t categorize its race bikes as aero or lightweight. The Dogma is a do-it-all bike and ridden by the pros on all types of terrains.
The difference lies in how the bikes are specced. The Dogma F, followed by the Dogma F12 is the top of the line bikes and are specced with only the best components (eg: electronic shifting). Next in line is the Prince which is specced with mid-tiered components (eg: Shimano Ultegra).
Sitting at the bottom are the Paris and GAN endurance bikes specced with Shimano 105.

Pinarello Dogma F
Released just days before the 2021 Tour de France, the Dogma F is Pinarello’s fastest and lightest performance road bike to date. It’s the bike that Ineos-Grenadiers will race on in July.
The main improvement in the Dogma F is weight savings. By reducing weight in the cockpit, fork, headset, seat tube, and seat clamp, the Dogma F is 265g lighter than the Dogma F12 in the same configuration for a size 53.
Pinarello also redesigned the (although subtle) fork, downtube, and seat stays. The combination of these allows air to flow with less interruption, improving aerodynamics by 4.8% over the Dogma F12. It still uses the same TorayCa T1100 1K Dream Carbon frame construction.
The Dogma F is available in 11 frame sizes with 16 handlebar reach/widths and two seat post setback choices. This gives the cyclist 352 sizing options to get the ideal fit.
As the top of the line bike, the Dogma F is only available with the best electronic shifting groupsets from either Shimano, SRAM, or Campagnolo, and a choice of DT Swiss ARC1400, Fulcrum Racing Speed 40 or, Princeton 4540 wheels. Surprisingly, there’s also a rim brake version available.
Pinarello Dogma F12
The Dogma F12 was launched in May 2019 and was Pinarello’s top race bike before the introduction of Dogma F in June 2021. It’s the bike that has won the last three editions of the Giro d’Italia (2019 to 2021) and 2019 Tour de France, ridden by Richard Carapaz, Egan Bernal, and Tao Geoghegan Hart.
The frame uses the TorayCa T1100 1K Dream Carbon, which is the same carbon fiber material used in the Dogma F. The disc brake version has internally routed cables while the rim brake version has the front brake cables exposed.
For those who are after extra small frame sizes, the Dogma F12 could be a better option as it comes in 13 frame sizes vs 11 for the Dogma F.
Pinarello Paris
The Pinarello Paris is a pure endurance bike designed with comfort and long miles in mind. Compared to the more racy Dogma, the Paris has a higher stack and longer reach, putting the rider in a much more comfortable position to last the distance.
The frame uses the less stiff and more forgiving TorayCa T600 UD carbon and is built up with Shimano 105 R7000 components. Completing the build are Pinarello’s in-house components brands, the MOST Ultrafast 40 wheels, and Pirelli’s latest all-rounder tires, the P7.
There’s also a choice of a better specced Paris with Shimano Ultegra R8000 and Fulcrum Racing 500 wheelset.
Pinarello Prince
The Prince was Pinarello’s top-of-the-line race bike until the first Dogma 60.1 was launched in 2009. Since then, the Prince sits in the mid-range in the Pinarello family.
At first glance, the Price looks very similar to the F12 in terms of the frame shape. In fact, it inherits many of the F12’s features such as the downtube shape and total cable integration design.
Compared to the Dogma F12, the Prince has nine frame sizes with a slightly more relaxed geometry. This puts the rider in a more upright and less aggressive position on the bike.
The Price is specced with mid-range Shimano groupsets with either Shimano Ultegra R8000 (mechanical shifting) or Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting.
Pinarello GAN
The Pinarello GAN is an entry-level bike that sits at the bottom of its road bike offerings. The design is derived from the Dogma F8 which was launched in 2014 and was Pinarello’s top race bike until 2018. It’s also the same frame design that Chris Froome won three Tour de France on.
Similar to Paris, the frame geometry is skewed towards comfort and suitable for beginners. It’s only available in rim brakes with Shimano 105 and Fulcrum Racing 600 wheels.

Pinarello doesn’t have women-specific bikes. Their bikes are available in a very wide range of sizes that will cater to more riders’ heights compared to other brands. If you’re after a smaller frame size (eg: XXS or XXXS), the Pinarello Dogma F12 has frame sizes for riders below 5’ 3” (160cm).
