Yeti introduces the new 160E
Today, Yeti is announcing their first e-bike – the 160E. Along with it comes an all new suspension platform dubbed Sixfinity. If an all new system, from a brand that develops exciting systems, wasn’t exciting enough – the bike also has a 3 position lower shock mount which can change the leverage rate between 20%, 25% and 30% without affecting geometry, anti-squat or anti-rise.
Details
- 29″ front and rear dedicated
- 170mm front travel / 160mm rear travel
- 2.6″ tire clearance
- 630-Watt hour battery
- Water bottle compatible
- Rated to Yeti DH testing standards
Sixfinity
Sixfinity is a system that Yeti first started prototyping in 2016. The main point is that it allows for the anti-squat to remain around 100% up to about the halfway point of the travel. This helps to provide a firm platform and avoid wallowing in its early travel – something that is even more crucial with e-bikes and their added weight.
Then roughly at that mid-point, the switch link reaches its “inflection point” and changes direction – which allows the anti squat to drop off dramatically – and more so in the harder gears. Yeti says this layout is also what helped them achieve the 3 different leverage ratio options.
