Unno Introduces the BOÖS – Their First e-bike
[Press Release] – UNNO’s most challenging project finally sees the light: the BOÖS, a 170/160mm carbon fibre electric bike with 750Wh battery. The Barcelona-based brand has managed to assemble a first batch in size S2 and “Race” build that is already available for pre-order, with delivery in 4-5 weeks.
After 4 years of development, the BOÖS stands for a disruptive design that integrates several components in the frame: from the KIOX 300 screen to the seat post clamp. It weighs 22.6kg in size S2 and Race build with full on tires and 750Wh battery, being one of the lightest Bosch- powered e-bikes on the market. Frame stiffness has been increased thanks to double row bearings with EnduroMAX technology, which way more durable as standard row bearings. In addition, they withstand radial and axial forces, which translates into increased stiffness and a more solid feeling. All of the frame’s plastic parts are manufactured with recycled plastic and rubber, being one of the first brands to ever do it. To make that possible, Unno has established a collaboration with Oceanworks, a supplier that creates sustainable plastics by collecting waste from the oceans.
The BOÖS is a fast, fun and easy-to-handle bike. The test team has been working in this direction in order to provide the perfect balance between stability and agility, making the bike fun and easy to ride the top priority. In addition, all 2022 bikes and further will be covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
The BOÖS Race is equipped with Fox Factory suspensions and dropper post. It has a 170mm Fox 38 fork and Float X2 shock, as well as a Transfer seat post, all finished in Kashima coating. It incorporates SRAM GX AXS wireless transmission and Crankbrothers Synthesis wheels specific for E-Bike. Bosch was chosen for the electrical system because of its power and worldwide availability of spare parts. As for brakes, the Italian brand Formula and its Cura 4 brakes were chosen, paired with rotors in 220 and 203mm.
Deux, a new brand of components, is launched exclusively with Unno bikes. It is manufactured in carbon fibre and features an integrated clamping system to optimize weight and maintain a clean aesthetic, with no bolts in sight.
UNNO has always stood out for its pioneering geometries and kinematics, being the starting point for many other bikes released years later. There will be three sizes available based on Reach: S1 (435mm), S2 (470mm) and S3 (510mm). The geo is aggressive and features a 64o head tube angle and generous wheelbases across the sizes.
“We’ve found the perfect point between stability and handling. We’ve been testing it to exhaustion and it’s clear to us that we’ve created exactly what we were looking for. It asks to go all out on descents, being super stable and fun at all times, no matter how aggressive the terrain is” – Cesar Rojo.
After 5 prototypes and countless hours of testing, the configuration that most favoured the characteristics of this e-bike was a mullet setup for its extra handling, strength and stiffness in the rear end. Aiming for maximum performance, reliability and range, Bosch electric system was the chosen one.
Unno bikes will be available online and in selected stores worldwide. The brand affirms to be pushing to have more retail locations during the next years. For Unno, shops play a very important role in terms of Mountain Bike community, service and business.
Widespread stock of all sizes will be available in selected stores and via website from the second quarter of 2022, when the S1 and S3 sizes will arrive, and the new web platform will also be launched.
The Race build is priced at 9.995€ VAT included, represents the brand’s “perfect” build, with the lower spec Elite and exclusive Factory builds to be released late 22 and early 23.
