UCI MTB World Series: The New Era of World Cup
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Warner Bros. Discovery presented their 2023 website dedicated to the new era of the highest level of world-class mountain bike competition. The UCI World Cup circuits of all disciplines involved such as XC, DH, marathon, short track and enduro, are unified under the name of UCI MTB World Series.
The 2023 calendar, which we published at the end of the year , includes several stages that will host multiple disciplines in a single event and this will presumably be the direction that will be taken over the next few seasons, favoring locations that will be able to host the greatest number of disciplines, as in a sort of MTB mini-Olympics.
In a statement on its official website, the newly born UCI MTB World Series declares that the live streaming will be available on demand on the Discovery+, Eurosport App and GCN+ channels, with subscription costs. They also specify that in the coming months they will indicate further channels where you can watch the races but it is not specified whether live or deferred / replay and above all if equally paid or unencrypted. At the moment, the decision to combine live broadcasts with unencrypted broadcasts appears highly unlikely if these are primarily entrusted to on-demand channels. Just two months from the start of the 2023 calendar, we look forward to clearer indications with which we will keep you updated.
