Gustav Gullholm, the custom bike building wizard at Scott better known as Dangerholm is back at work. After two incredibly creative versions of Spark, the Swedish-born Norwegian got to work on his aluminum Ransom for a unique new creation. This time less showy than the previous works but just as captivating, both for the choice of components and for the spectacular painting that he applied. Being an enduro bike, the focus of this project has shifted from the weight reduction that characterized the Dangerholm editions of the Spark to downhill performance. Today Scott presents the new 2023 Scale – a hardtail with 29-inch wheels, in a carbon fiber or aluminum frame and, in the RC SL version we tested in size M, weighs in at 8.99 kg on our scale. Today Scott is releasing their new Genius, an All Mountain rig with 29-inch wheels and 160 / 150mm of travel at the front and rear respectively. The thing that immediately catches the eye is the frame with the hidden shock absorber, along the lines of the Spark. Read on for a deeper dive… Geometry The bike on test is in size M. I am 179cm tall and I find myself straddling the M and L. In this case the 460mm reach was sufficient for a nice central position which, assisted by a saddle angle of 77.1° and a 440mm chain
