Gee Atherton Pulls out of Red Bull Rampage
Virgin, Utah (September 30, 2019) – With hopes of a triumphant return to Red Bull Rampage, UK-based rider Gee Atherton has withdrawn himself from the event after a hard crash. “I’m absolutely gutted to be writing this, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to compete. I crashed last week and rolled my shoulder out…” wrote the 34 year old Atherton to the Red Bull Rampage committee over the weekend.
Bienvenido Aguado Alba has received the invite Atherton has relegated, and will be making his first trip to Virgin. Alba’s performance at the inaugural Marzocchi Proving Grounds was good enough for fourth place, making him the first alternate for Red Bull Rampage should a rider pull out.
