Canyon Neuron 2020: New Superlight Trail Machine
Today Canyon is presenting the latest versions of the Neuron, Spectral and Dude models on their website. As far as the Neuron is concerned, in addition to the new set-ups based on the same chassis as the one we presented last year, a new version was added with a frame that’s even lighter by 250-grams. It tips the scale at just 2,280 grams in a size M without the rear shock and rear axle.
The weight savings were achieved thanks to the adoption of 40T unidirectional carbon fibers both on the front and rear triangle. This type of fiber in addition to its weight advantage also offers greater tensile strength. The high-end spec level boasts FOX Factory suspension, DT Swiss XMC1200 wheels, 4-piston Shimano XTR brakes and a 12-speed Shimano XTR drivetrain with a RaceFace Next SL carbon crankset. All of those parts allow the Neuron CF SLX 9.0 LTD to weigh in at just 11.7kg in size M.
Standard are many of the main features with which Canyon equips their carbon frames, such as the IPU steering lock, the Cable Channel, the Triple Phase suspension system and the sealed shielding of the bearing housing.
The geometry remains unchanged compared to the 2019 model. Note that the SLX version will only be available in sizes M, L and XL, so only with 29-inch wheels.
The 2020 pricing starts with the CF 8.0 at a price of € 2.699 up to € 5.999 for the top-of-the-line CF SLX 9.0 LTD version. All these versions are available starting today on the Canyon site.
Five colors are available for the entire Neuron 2020 range. Each spec level has two frame colors except the women’s versions and the new SLX version, for which the Venom Black colorway has been selected.
