X-Fusion Trace 36 long travel 29er fork
The Trace 36 is X-Fusion’s answer to the burgeoning long travel 29er market. Available with up to 170mm of travel, it can also be spaced down to 140mm.
On the air side, the Trace debuts a new air volume spacer system, which is similar to what Fox and RockShox offer. To make the process simple, X-Fusion has replaced the standard top cap with one that’s removable with a cassette tool.
This system is paired with a new air spring design, which replaces the steel negative spring previously used on the damper side. The Trace 36 will rely on the excellent Roughcut damper.
The Trace will be available in boost spacing with either a 15mm or 20mm axle. Unfortunately, they’re not interchangeable. You’ll need a new lower if you decide to swap axle standards.
On the back of the fork arch are two threaded inserts. Down the road, X-Fusion hopes to develop a fender that can attach there.
Claimed weight for the fork and hardware is 2000g. Retail will be $899. Forks should start shipping in spring 2018.
