Video: Why my Santa Cruz Nomad climbs like crap

Santa Cruz Nomad CC

This bike is either all wrong or alright.

What is it

Trevor has several bikes so for this build, he chose to target his Nomad for a specific task, descending. Although we marvel at the climbing prowess and descending range of modern bikes, not every build has to do it all. Many abilities are often the result of compromise and it’s good to remember that the bike build can focus on doing as specific task very well. Check out Trevor’s build and check his insights on a descender build for the Nomad.

Build

Trevor’s Nomad is currently setup to slay descents and climb comfortably from the bottom of the day’s last bike park run to his car. That climbing handicap can be almost entirely blamed on the Sram 7-spd XO1 group. The crisp shifts and rear derailleur security are all part of why full DH rigs are so fun to ride.
