It can be argued that the phone is the best cycling accessory. It is an emergency device, a camera, a POV camera, a flashlight, a messaging tool all in one. And that’s just the native functionality. When you get in to to world of Apps, its utility for biking expands quite a bit.
Of course bike riding should be about riding and one must not get carried away by geeking out with a device so much that it interrupts the flow and serenity of a mountain bike ride. But there’s no question that the phone is a useful biking tool and its utility keeps growing with every App created.

The iPhone has a great Compass App that is included with every iphone in the Utilities folder. Said compass can help you get your bearings when out in the woods. In addition, the compass utility has a built in level and angle measurement tool. this can be good for leveling your saddles and various tasks. The angle measurement tool can be used for measuring head angles and seat angles of bikes.
