The small but dense city of Taxco de Alarcón in Mexico annually plays host to one of mountain biking’s most unusual spectacles—the Taxco Urbano Downhill. In it, pro gravity riders take to slopes of not dirt and rock, but asphalt and concrete as the vie for victory. Traditionally held in October, GoPro just posted this video of Kelly McGarry’s run down last year’s twisty, harrowing course.

Though known more for big tricks than racing—like the 72-foot backflip at last year’s Redbull Rampage—McGarry took full advantage of his invite, attacking the track and sending it on the course’s many jumps. Amazingly McGrarry always looks smooth, even when rolling stair sets at mach speed.

The race starts high in the city with riders crossing the plaza of its signature Christ Statue monument and heading downhill into steeply situated neighborhoods down trails, roads and an endless onslaught of stairs.
