Video: Kate Courtney interview

Yesterday, Kate Courtney shocked the world as she won the Women’s XC World Championship in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. The odds of her winning were so slim she was barely mentioned in the pre-race favorites coverage. Understandably so as she is 22-years old and a first year racer in the World Cup circuit.
Check how she shocked the world with her XC World Championship win HERE .
She did incredibly well in her first year of XC World Cup racing but her best finish was 6th place in Mont-Sainte-Anne and and Vallnord. But she was consistent enough to earn a high enough seeding to be in the front row of the starting line of the 2018 XC World Championship. Still, it was a very tall order for the young American who had hopes of ending the 17-year US gold medal drought in XC Worlds.
She was a product of NICA High School League. Here is the landmark video about the birth of the American high school mountain bike league, Singletrack High. Kate Courtney’s race is at minute 50 of the video.
This video shot by Redbull gives great insight into the life and training of Kate Courtney from Northern California. She is a product of a great family and support system. And went through the early years of the NICA high school mountain bike league program. She is also a student at one of the most prestigious colleges in the world, Stanford University.
Even if she stopped riding a bike today, she will already be a mountain bike legend. But understand that she is only 22 years old and still improving. So the future of American XC racing is very bright indeed.
