What was once a way for European road professionals to stay fit during the off-season, cyclocross has exploded from fringe sport to mainstream cycling discipline. Amateur race participation numbers in the U.S. are climbing and the majority of the bicycle manufacturers offer ‘cross bikes.

In the soon-to-be-released documentary, For the Love of Mud, British filmmaker Benedict Campbell explores the multi-faceted world of cyclocross. Featuring interviews with local cyclists and elite athletes, Campbell spent more than a year filming in Europe and the U.S. Full release is slated for winter 2015. In the meantime check out the trailer.
