Cannondale rider back on the bike and ‘happy’ with progress

Injured Cannondale OverMountain rider Mark Weir watches some local BMXers shred the hallways of their high school to help him recuperate from the mental anguish of his injuries.

Cannondale OverMountain enduro rider and all-around legend Mark Weir has been making remarkable progress on his recovery from a devastating trail work injury that crushed his pelvis and sacrum in February. As we reported previously, Weir—who is not related to the British mixed martial arts champion of the same name—was attempting to remove a tree that had fallen across the trail when a supporting branch crumbled, dropping the trunk onto his midsection.

While Weir is reported to be back on his bike as of this writing, he’s been prescribed a dynamic movement program by his physical therapist as evidenced in this video. Throughout, Weir is seen flexing his hips, spinning and pirouetting which can only bode well for his return to competition.

Weir’s doctor credits a strict regimen of dynamic movement exercises with speeding the rider’s recovery. He is especially fond of bridge dances.
