Val di Sole World Cup DH course preview

Val di Sole

Claudio Caluori and Ed Masters take us on a tour of the legendary Val di Sole race track.

For the last race of the season, the World Cup downhill circuit heads to Val di Sole. This famous track located in Northern Italy winds won the Dolomites and is nicknamed the Black Snake. The 1.4-mile course delivers with wide open park features that quickly plummet into technical rock strewn steeps.

This track has been home to some of downhill mountain biking greatest moments, like Sam Hill eviscerating the competition until that one last corner…

While Hill won’t be riding this weekend, the racing should be phenomenal. The battle for the overall series titles has come down to this race. Greg Minnaar is currently sitting in the points lead, but Aaron Gwin is within striking distance, as only 33 points separate the two riders. Both men have something to fear in Troy Brosnan, who sits just 77 points back from the lead and is coming off a win at Crankworx.

On the women’s side, the standings are just as close. Myriam Nicole is leading by just over a 100 points, but both Tracey Hannah and Tahnee Seagrave could dethrone her. Due to injury, Rachel Atherton is out of the points chase, but she’s back on track and hunting for a win.

Who’s your money on this weekend? Before you put down those wagers, take a peek at the updated track with Claudio Calouri and Ed Masters.
