Phillips finished third on the enduro stage after flatting on the third of the five timed segments. He currently leads the overall men’s enduro classification with four stages remaining.

When he’s not racing enduros, Phillips is finishing up his undergraduate degree in business and marketing at Lees McRae College in North Carolina.

He’s using the NoTubes Trans-Sylvania Epic to ramp up for the rest of his enduro season.

“Doing this race gives me 25 chances to practice enduro segments,” said Phillips. “I get to dial in my preparation, my equipment and my fitness over seven days, and it sets me up well for all of my other races. While some of my competition was preparing all spring, I was still finishing up my semester at school, so this is a great way to catch myself up.”
