The Martyn Ashton story: A look at his inspirational story
Martyn Ashton was one of the world’s premiere trials riders, but he didn’t become a truly household name until 2012 when Road Bike Party was released (12 million YouTube views and counting). The YouTube short showcased Ashton doing a series of incredible tricks on an unmodified carbon road bike.
While preparing to film the sequel, Ashton was injured at a trials show. The accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. Rather than retreat into the shadows, though, he’s tried to maintain a positive attitude and in the process has become an inspiration to many.

Recently, Trans World Sport, the long running internationally aired sports program, aired a segment featuring Ashton. It covers his record-breaking achievements, filming exploits, tragic injury, and road to recovery. If his story doesn’t make you tear up, you don’t have a pulse.
