Sweet Protection 2018 MTB apparel and helmets

Sweet Protection has announced the arrival of their new spring 2018 MTB line, including helmets and apparel. This Norwegian maker of bike, ski and whitewater equipment is starting to come on strong in the U.S. market and their latest line of men’s and women’s gear brings a host of style, performance, and protection features. Here’s a rundown.
Sweet Protection Bushwhacker II MTB helmet
Updated for Spring 2018 and used by the likes of former Enduro World Series champ Tracy Moseley, the Bushwhacker II is an enduro/trail specific helmet. It’s an updated and revised version of the original Bushwhacker and now includes STACC ventilation, which is claimed to deliver uninterrupted airflow over the temporal artery to enhance cooling. This helmet utilizes a 5-piece shell construction with variable polycarbonate thicknesses and geometrical shapes to create an outer shell that is either stiff or flexible in key locations to better protect the head during impact. This helmet is available as the Bushwhacker II ($199), Bushwhacker II MIPS ($239), and Bushwhacker II Carbon MIPS ($299).

Sweet Protection Dissenter Helmet
Also updated for Spring 2018 is the Sweet Dissenter, which incorporates in-mold technology and a single-piece polycarbonate shell to help deliver a “bang for your buck” price point. This helmet is equipped with Sweet’s occigrip turn dial retention system for a secure fit and STACC ventilation to channel air over the temples for better cooling. It is lightweight and low profile while providing all-mountain protection. Simply remove the visor for around town or commuter use. Available with or without MIPS protection. Price: $130 for standard and $170 for MIPS.
Sweet Protection Hunter Mid Gloves
New for Spring 2018 are these pre-curved fit gloves. With Clarino synthetic leather palm and silicone grip zones, the Hunter Mid Gloves complement the natural shape of your hand to let you ride comfortably. The touchscreen compatible index finger and thumb allow on-the-trail access to your smartphone. Perforated fingers combine a blend of polyamide and spandex on the back of the hand enhance ventilation and comfort. These gloves weigh 100 grams per pair and retail for $30.
Sweet Protection Hunter Shorts
Available in both men’s and women’s, the Hunter shorts bring durability, comfort and range of motion to the trail. The stretchy, water-resistant material and articulated knees give bikers the flexibility to pedal comfortably, even when wearing knee pads. Add in ventilation and pockets and you have a top-flight MTB short. Price is $130.
Sweet Badlands Merino Jersey
The Badlands men’s and Badlands women’s jerseys are made with 100% Merino wool. The Badlands Jersey helps wick sweat away from the body, keeping the soft layer comfortable against your skin. The jersey’s cut is a little bit longer in the back to keep the jersey from riding up while in a seated position, keeping your entire body covered in case of a wipeout. Available in long sleeve ($80) and short sleeve ($60).
Sweet Protection Hunter Air Jacket
Designed to provide ultralight protection from wind and light rain, the Hunter Air men’s and Air women’s jackets pack down small, fitting easily in a jersey pocket or hydration pack. The Air is there when you need it and almost disappears when you don’t. Highly breathable and durable thanks to micro ripstop and wind resistant stretch Nylon, the Air features a DWR finish and weighs in at just 185g (men’s large). Price is $129.
