Stan’s NoTubes rolls out MK3 custom wheel program
Now you can have it your way. And we are not talking fast food. This week, Stan’s NoTubes began shipping custom wheels to customers as part of its new custom wheelset builder program.
Riders can design their own Crest, Arch, or Flow MK3 mountain bike wheels, choosing rim size, hub, axle type, spokes, nipples, and decals. Then Stan’s NoTubes builds them at its New York factory. Prices vary depending on options chosen for each wheelset. Current lead time on custom wheels is 2-3 days.
The new custom wheelsets feature the Stan’s NoTubes Mark 3 (MK3) series of rims that were launched in April. The Crest, Arch and Flow MK3 rims are made of a durable 6069 aluminum alloy and have a wide, low profile design that’s claimed to have excellent lateral stiffness while maximizing tire stability without distorting a tire’s shape. The MK3 rims rely on Stan’s patented Bead Socket Technology (BST).
“What’s great about the custom wheel builder program is that our customers get to optimize both performance and style,” said Chris Currie, creative director at Stan’s NoTubes. “Our site offers details on all the options to help people decide what works best for them. They get all the technical benefits of our latest MK3 wheels, and the wheels look awesome because you can coordinate colors. We love seeing the photos of matching bikes and wheels that have been coming in.”
To get a custom wheelset of your own, start the process by visiting Stan’s NoTubes website at www.notubes.com. Choose to build a front or rear wheel. The builder then lets you add front and rear wheels separately. For each, select a Crest MK3, Arch MK3 or Flow MK3 rim in your preferred wheel size. Then pick your hub, axle type, spokes and the colors of your nipples and decals.
