SRAM Roam 60 carbon 29er wheelset rolls out
SRAM offers three different wheelset families. For the XC crowd, there’s the Rise series. Gravity riders are served by the Rail lineup. And for everyone in between, there’s Roam. These wheels are designed for the kind of rider who describes themselves as a “mountain biker” plain and simple.
The newest addition to the Roam family is a 29er version of the Roam 60. It uses a 30mm wide carbon rim that features an asymmetric profile, hookless bead, and is tubeless ready. Lacing is four cross with 28 straight pull spokes held together with brass nipples.
The wheel is available in every configuration but 26-inch. You can order the front with boost spacing, or any variation of the previous standard (12×142/12×135/QR). Regular or torque caps are also available for the front axle. There’s also the choice of a SRAM XD or Shimano driver, but there is no center lock option, only 6 bolt.
The hubs use SRAM’s four pawl sealed cartridge bearing system which provides 56 points of engagement. This system is housed in a new hub-shell, which is said to be stronger.
