SRAM Eagle oval chainring rolls out
If you’ve been paying attention to our forums, oval is the new round. Fans of ovalized chainrings argue that they reduce fatigue and improve climbing traction. After putting these products to the test, we tend to agree, although they’re not for everyone.
If you want to give oval a try, SRAM now has an Eagle specific version with their X-SYNC 2 tooth profile. The X-SYNC 2 profile uses a “longer, positive-rake tooth shape” that SRAM claims increases chain retention, while decreasing friction, noise and wear. This new chainring is the only oval offering on the market to use this specific tooth profile. These new chainrings are shipping now for $119, $10 more than the standard Eagle chainring.
