SR Suntour reservoir shock spy shots
SR Suntour has been making a name for itself in the suspension world by offering premium suspension products at reasonable prices. While they produce everything from XC forks to World Cup winning DH forks, their range of rear shocks is minimal.
But it appears that’s about to change. As Mtbr was cruising the race pits at Crankwork in Whistler, we spotted an unmarked prototype at the SR Suntour race support vehicle. The nondescript shock has a three-position climbing switch and a single rebound adjustment.
The shock bears a striking resemblance to the DVO Topaz, which isn’t surprising. SR Suntour manufacturers all of DVO’s suspension bits, so the two have an existing relationship. However, there are some subtle differences between the shocks. Compared to the Topaz, the prototype shock has a narrower reservoir. It also lacks some of the trick machining found on the DVO.
Without seeing a cutaway or pulling the shock apart, it’s hard to say more about the shock. Mtbr reached out to both brands for comment, but they’re staying silent for now. If you want to learn more, stay tuned to www.srsuntour-cycling.com.
