As our sister site RoadBikeReview reported early this year, Specialized is now giving bike buyers the chance to craft semi-custom dream builds. Working with your local dealer (S-Works level only), you can design a bike that even includes zombies. Inspired by the walking dead, complete with spatter and gaping mouths subtly highlighted in the design, the “Mean” frame caught our eye at the Specialized booth at the Sea Otter Classic.

The Mean look is one of six designs available for the Specialized S-Works Epic World Cup. There’s also the polar opposite, the Lean, which is a little more understated.

Start with frame, which for now is limited to the Epic and Epic World Cup on the mountain bike side and Tarmac and Tarmac Disc on the road. Next add on each component to get your perfect fit, including Specialized stems, bars, and saddles. With its full line of Body Geometry products, there’s no shortage of options.

Stock features of the Epic World Cup S-Build frame include:

  • FACT carbon, 95mm-travel, FSR frame with World Cup geometry
  • Specialized/FOX Brain shock with autosag
  • 100mm RockShox SID World Cup fork with Brain damping

Though still in its early stages, Specialized aims to expand the program to other bikes and levels in the future.
