Haro was at the Sea Otter Classic showing some of their 2016 model year prototypes including a return to full suspension mountain bikes. Absent for about 3 years, the Shift platform returns with 3 distinct flavors. Also included are some photos of the 2016 FLC Pro carbon hardtail line as well as a replica Haro Freestyler – Mike Dominguez edition BMX bike.

Haro Shift Plus – bigger is better

Earlier this year at an overseas tradeshow, the guys at Haro realized that Plus sized tires were going to be a big thing. Not wanting to miss the boat, they jumped on the chance to create a Plus bike for model year 2016. The result is the Shift Plus, a 6061 alloy frame with 125mm of rear travel utilizing a four-bar linkage design. It features Boost size axles (15×110 front, 12×148 rear) and also uses WTB’s new Scraper rims. The spec highlights are:

  • Rock Shox Reba RL 27.5″ Plus fork with 120mm of travel
  • Rock Shox Monarch RT Solo Air shock with lock-out
  • Shimano XT 1×11 drivetrain
  • Shimano SLX disc brakes
  • Pivit Boost hubs with WTB Scraper rims and WTB Bridger Comp tires
  • Comes in 4 sizes (14.5″, 16″, 18″, 20.5″)

The MSRP of the Haro Shift Plus is $2499 and expected availability is fall of this year. Like all the bikes shown here, the color is only for prototype purposes and the final color/graphic scheme is yet to be determined.

The Shift S3 is an alloy framed single pivot bike rolling on 27.5" wheels and tires.

Haro Shift S3

Haro’s return to full suspension mountain bikes is aimed at the more budget minded rider who doesn’t have $5k or more to spend on the latest and greatest carbon repli-racer. As such, the Shift S3 is a simple single pivot bike with 120mm of rear travel and a 6061 alloy frame. The spec highlights are:

  • SR Suntour Raidon XC LO R 120mm 9mm Q/R air fork with lockout
  • SR Suntour Raidon-R rear shock w/Speed Lock
  • Drivetrain is mainly Shimano Deore 2×10
  • Tektro hydraulic brakes
  • Weinmann rims, Pivit hubs with Kenda Honey Badger 27.5 tires
  • Comes in 4 sizes (14.5″, 16″, 18″, 20.5″)

The MSRP of the Haro Shift S3 is $1199 and expected availability is fall of this year. Like all the bikes shown here, the color is only for prototype purposes and the final color/graphic scheme is yet to be determined.

The Shift R5 is an alloy framed, four-bar linkage bike with 125mm of travel rolling on 27.5" wheels and tires.

Haro Shift R5 and R7

If you are a weekend warrior rider on a budget but you’re looking for something a bit more sophisticated than the S3’s single pivot design, Haro offers the Shift R5 and Shift R7 that use a four-bar linkage design to provide 125mm of rear cush. The spec highlights of the Shift R5 are:

The spec highlights of the Shift R7 are:

  • Rock Shox Recon Gold TK Solo Air 15 Maxle fork with 120mm of travel
  • Rock Shox Monarch RL Solo Air rear shock
  • Drivetrain is mainly Shimano XT/Deore 2×10

  • Comes in 4 sizes (14.5″, 16″, 18″, 20.5″)

Besides the Shift Plus shown here, Haro will also be releasing three models of an alloy hardtail with 27.5″+ wheels (most likely spec’ed with 3.00″ wide tires) and this line will be called the Subvert series.

We also took a few photos of the 2016 prototype Haro FLC 29 Pro and the Haro FLC 27.5 Pro. These are carbon hardtails like the Haro FLC 29 Pro that we tested recently. For model year 2016 the pricing stays virtually unchanged with the Pro models coming in at $3699 MSRP and the Comp models coming in at $1999 MSRP. New for 2016, the carbon hardtails get thru-axles front and rear. Please see the photos below including a sweet Mike Dominguez replica Haro Freestyler.
