Sea Otter: Fezzari rolls out 27+ Cascade Peak
Starting in August, Fezzari will join the growing number of brands to offer a 27+ full suspension bike (click to enlarge).
Consumer direct seller Fezzari believes there’s a sea change underway with the way people buy bikes.
“In general, we feel like people are coming around to the idea of buying on the Internet,” said marketing man Tyler Cloward, adding that he also dismisses the idea that consumer-direct sellers are bad for the bike shop business. “That might seem counterintuitive, but shops make a large portion of their revenue from service, so it’s a win for them. They like us because we are getting butts on bikes and that’s good for everyone.”
Wherever you buy bikes from, it’s hard to argue with the bang for buck you can get from sellers such as Fezzari. By dealing directly with the end user, the Utah-based company is able to keep prices low, but still offer a solid product. All bikes are assembled in Utah and come with a lifetime frame warranty. If issues do arise, the company says it has a stable of local bike shops across the country that it works with to rectify issues.
Fezzari was out in force at last month’s Sea Otter Classic, showing off a variety of new steeds. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

Fezzari Cascade Peak 27+
Add Fezzari to the growing list of bike makers offering a 27+ mountain bike. The new 120mm full suspension Cascade Peak will be available starting in August and will accommodate the new wheel size or standard 29er hoops with up to 2.5-inch tires.
“We see these bikes as especially attractive to people that are newer to the sport,” said Cloward. “They’re not railing super hard or gapping doubles, but still want something that’s fun and can handle a variety of terrain and do it reasonably safely. This can be an instant confidence booster.”
The stock $2700 build will come with a Shimano XT drivetrain and brakes, 120mm RockShox Reba fork, and will use the new Boost 148 hub spacing, which increases wheel strength and stiffness by moving the spoke bracing angle outward.

Fezzari Solitude Hardtail
If you’re not ready for a “chubby” bike, and instead want something that’s XC race ready, the Fezzari Solitude is worth a look. This full carbon hardtail starts at $2200 and can be spec’d with the full array of drivetrain options from SRAM or Shimano. It also has swappable drop-outs, allowing for use of QRs or thru-axles.
“This bike is the bread-and-butter choice for high school race teams,” said Cloward, adding that they get a 10 percent discount. “It’s a great deal that is totally competitive on weight and performance.”
