Video: 2015 Pivot Cycles Mach 4 Carbon and Phoenix Carbon
Originally launched in 2007, Pivot’s Mach 4 brings a slew of exciting updates for 2015, including internal routing ports which are fully integrated with Shimano’s Di2 system, the lightest frame Pivot has ever produced, and a variety of build kit options. The Di2 compatibility includes an internal battery mount in the down tube and several ports for clean internal routing. The dw-link frame weighs in at 5.1 lbs, allowing for a complete bike build under 22 lbs. A standard 73 degree XC seat angle is paired with a 67.5 degree head angle, while the offset on the 27.5 fork provides a slightly slacker head angle. Combined these features allow the bike to respond quickly to tight singletrack, while a low bottom bracket helps the bike to descend well.
The 2015 Mach 4 Carbon features a 115mm of travel, a 27.5” wheelset, and is available in XS, S, M & L sizing, with the XS offering the lowest stand-over height on a 27.5 wheel bike in the market.
Pivot’s Phoenix DH Carbon was unveiled at Sea Otter this spring. This 27.5” DH bike features dw-link suspension, a full carbon frame and is currently available as a frameset or in two complete builds. One of the lightest frames in the DH market, the Phoenix weighs in at 7.1 lbs with an air shock, and 8.1 lbs with a coil.
The Phoenix DH Carbon Saint build features the Fox 40 Air 200mm Kashima fork, Race Face SIXC crank, DT wheels, Highroller II Maxxis tires, the Pivot/WTB Hightail saddle and a variety of Pivot carbon parts with an MSRP of $7399. The next build down is the Phoenix DH Carbon Zee. The Zee build utilizes the Rock Shox Boxer RC fork, Hayes wheels, Pivot/WTB Hightail saddle, and Race Face Respond 785mm handlebars. With the Shimano Zee kit, this bike hits the market at $5,499 MSRP.
We set out to build the lightest, fastest, most capable World Cup DH bike the world has ever seen. The end result: The new Phoenix DH carbon. The Phoenix features 27.5” wheels, an ultra-lightweight chassis, dw-link suspension, and the most forward-thinking features to ever grace a mountain bike. We have employed Pivot’s exclusive Hollow Core Internal Molding process, along with technology developed from our award-winning Mach 6, to develop a 7.1lb/3.2kg frame.

It’s no wonder that MTBR.com honored the Mach 6 with their most versatile Enduro bike award, saying, “If we had one basket to put all our eggs in, the Pivot Mach 6 would be it.” The Mach 6 excels over rugged terrain, equally capable on imposing climbs one moment, and rough downhill sections the next. The dw-link’s famed anti-squat delivers unparalleled traction and pedaling efficiency for uphill grinds, while the variable wheel travel path provides incredible square edge bump absorption and control on technical descents.
As a professional race bike, the technical terrain of the Enduro World Series is where the Mach 6 truly shines. The 27.5″ wheels, slack head angle, short chainstays, low bottom bracket height and incredible suspension performance, make for a stable, confident bike at speed that raises any rider’s ability to conquer insanely aggressive terrain with ease. Whether you’re riding trails that look more like a World Cup DH course or just trying to clean a section on your local trail that’s challenged you for years, the Mach 6 is designed to enhance your riding capabilities and reward those willing to push their limits to a whole new level.
From the racetrack to the trail, there has never been anything that has performed like the new Mach 4 Carbon. Now in its 4th generation, the Mach 4 Carbon rolls on 27.5” wheels, features 115mm of travel, and introduces the next generation of race/trail geometry—all paired with the lightest full-suspension frame we have ever made. Whether you are a pure XC racer looking for something nimble, with the acceleration of 26” wheels and the rolling speed of a 29er, or a trail rider that wants something fast and responsive yet stable, the Mach 4 Carbon has you covered. - See more at: http://www.pivotcycles.com/bike/mach-4-carbon/#sthash.g1SKyQEF.dpuf
The Mach 4 Carbon is the first Shimano Di2 compatible frame ever developed, featuring an internal battery mount in the down tube and all the required ports for clean internal routing. If you are not running Di2 and prefer a more conventional set up, the Mach 4 Carbon has the cleanest cable routing in the sport, with ports for full internal routing (including dropper post), full length housing and options for 1X, 2X and Shimano’s new M9000 Side Swing front derailleur.
