Nox Teocalli Bead

Nox Composites released the Kitsuma 27.5 rim for Interbike, a wide (36mm internal, 42mm external) rim aimed at the growing segment of trail riders appreciating the benefits that come with wide rims and tires. The Kitsuma features the asymmetrical offset common to all their mountain bike rims, which is said to help equalize, spoke tension and net lateral stiffness. Nox tells us this rim is intended for 2.4-3.0” tires, stating that those widths will ensure that the tire profile is close to ideal and the sideknob grip is maximized. For 2.2”-2.35” tires, Nox recommends their proven Farlow or Teocalli rim, which have 29/26mm internal widths respectively.

The rest of their mountain line, the Skyline, Teocalli and Farlow rims remain unchanged, although the range of available hub options for wheel builds is expanding to include Chris King, Industry Nine, Project 321, DT Swiss 240S, DT Swiss 350, Hope and Onyx Racing.

Earlier this year, Nox quietly introduce the A36D, a disc-specific, tubeless cross/road rim with an aero profile. They tell us that a symmetric version of this rim called the S36R is in final testing now, with a designed focused more squarely at the road market (rim brake) and should come in less than 400g with a wide footprint and 36mm aero shape. Nox tells us they are working on several other projects including a 29er version of the Kitsuma and are playing around with handlebars and seat post designs around a patent pending composite-based vibration damping system.

Nox Farlow 29

The Farlow is the weapon of choice for Enduro racing and weekend warriors alike. An extremely stiff layup and 29mm internal width add up to a level of precision and traction that is noticeable from the first pedal stroke. The Farlow was developed and proven on the World Cup enduro circuit, so not only can it handle whatever you can dish out, but there’s a good chance it’ll ask for more. 430g

Nox Teocalli 29

The Teocalli rim is the most popular in the Nox lineup for good reason. It’s lighter than most alloy race rims, yet has the width (26mm) you crave for improved traction and lower rolling resistance. The Teocalli is at home on a wide variety of trail surfaces from pure XC to full on trail use. For the trail rider who likes to race on occasion, this is the perfect rim. 380g

Nox Skyline 27.5

The Skyline is a race-day rim designed to handle the abuse of everyday riding. At 23mm wide (internal) it provides the benefits of wide rims without adding weight. Since XC races are won on the climbs, a light rim is absolutely critical. The Skyline delivers while maintain our high standards of lateral stiffness. The rim has been proven at the highest levels of the sport and continues to be one of the lightest and most durable XC rims on the market. 320g

Nox Skyline Hookless Bead

Nox developed the RockGuard HL system. The RockGuard HL system provides superior protection to the most vulnerable part of the mountain bike rim: the bead hook. Traditional carbon rim construction creates a weak spot right at the bead, most often by machining out a bead hook, which involves cutting fibers away that would otherwise be continuous and much stronger. Our RockGuard HL system is a hookless bead system which with an overwrapped continuous layer of high-modulus fiber. This seamless layer of fiber prevents delamination and makes the bead incredibly resilient to direct rock strikes. Combine this system with an extra-thick bead width and you'll see why this is the strongest carbon rim on the market.

Nox Skyline 29 Stealth

Internally called the "no holds barred" rim, this rim is the result of almost a year of R&D efforts to push the limits of weight, stiffness and durability available in a carbon rim. Our goal was to make the ultimate XC racing rim on the planet (yes, we set our sights high!). What our engineers came up with delivers; with an abundance of lateral stiffness, our trademark asymmetrical design, generous 23mm inner width and a continued refinement of our Rockguard Hookless bead provides best in the industry durability to rock strikes or other direct rim impacts. In short, if you are looking for speed, a wheelset built around the Skyline rims is the best upgrade you can make for your bike. We offer the Skyline 29 as a single rim or a complete wheelset. Our wheelsets are handbuilt right here in Tennessee using only the best components; Sapim CX-Ray or Race spokes and DT Swiss alloy Pro Lock squorx nipples. Hub choices include Chris King, Industry Nine, Hope, DT Swiss and Project 321.
