The Maya is a full coverage all mountain/enduro style helmet that uses Kali’s cone shaped multi-density EPS combined with a softer density foam around the head. This produces the lowest foam density of any Kali helmet ever. What does this mean? The official word from Kali explains, ” While helmets typically utilize a foam density between 100-120 g per cubit liter, the density in our Maya is around 70 g. The benefit to using this softer foam is that it dissipates impacts faster and more efficiently.”
Besides safety, the Maya also has cool features like an integrated camera and light mount and a flexible, break-resistant moto style visor (dubbed the “FlexyBill”). The helmet also has an antimicrobial liner with bug netting, floating dual closure system for easy adjustments and 12 vents with internal channeling for increased air flow. That Maya’s claimed weight is 350 grams and the best part may be the price. The Maya is a top level helmet that costs a scant $100. It is available in S/M and M/L sizes and comes in Matte Black, EnduroBro Blue and White/Black Duo. The helmet is shipping now.
