New Giant XTC and Fathom hardtails
Cross-country, trail, 29er, 27.5 or singlespeed. Whatever your preferred flavor, Giant’s new line of hardtails has you covered.
In addition to revealing new Trance and Anthem models, Giant also launched two new hardtails this week: the XtC and Fathom.
The Giant Advanced XtC ships with 29er wheels and gears.
The XtC is a World Cup proven race platform that rolls on 29er wheels. For the 2017 model year, Giant has updated the bike with an option to fit 27.5 plus tires. The frame also comes equipped with sliding dropouts, so it can be setup as a singlespeed.

Other notes on spec include a 27.2 seatpost for compliance, boost hubs for optimal chainline/tire clearance, and internal routing for clean lines.
For those who like to suffer in style, the XtC is also available as a singlespeed with plus tires.
The carbon frame will be available in three different build kits. The XtC Advanced + will come with 27.5 + wheels, while the XtC advanced will ship with 29er wheels. Rounding out the trio is the Advanced + SS, which is set up from the factory as a singlespeed with plus sized tires. All of these bikes can be converted from geared to single speed, or from plus to 29er (and visa versa).
The Fathom 27.5 features trail oriented geometry.
The XtC is a thoroughbred race horse with lots of built-in versatility, while the Fathom line comes with either a XC or trail geometry. The trial version uses 27.5 wheels. It has a 67-degree headtube angle and comes equipped with a 120mm travel fork.
Bigger wheels and a steeper head angle make the Fathom 29 the best choice for XC aficionados.
The XC oriented Fathom 29 uses larger hoops, a shorter travel 100mm fork, and a steeper 69-degree headtube angle.
Information on complete build kits, geometry, and pricing have yet to be announced, but we’ll update as we get more info.
