The drop in Corbet’s Couloir is intimidating to say the least.

Anyone who has ever skied or snowboarded Jackson Hole knows just how nerve-racking it can be to send it into the infamous Corbet’s Couloir, even in the best of conditions. Doing it in icy conditions on mountain bikes is nothing short of insane, and that’s exactly what Cam McCaul and Casey Brown did.

Corbet’s Couloir is one of the most legendary and challenging ski runs in the world. Last spring, McCaul and Brown attempted the first ever mountain bike descent of the double black diamond ski run.

A behind the scenes look at the planning and execution of the drop in.

There’s a litany of other adjectives you could prescribe to the lines McCaul and Brown threw down – sketchy, heavy, and borderline suicidal all come to mind – but ultimately, the end result was jaw-dropping. // From TGR’s 2017 ski film Rogue Elements, presented by REI

Who's gonna send it bigger? Cam McCaul or Casey Brown?

It goes without saying that this feat is Beyond Categorie and we are very privileged to see the talents of young, female rider Brown. She’s from Whistler, BC and got noticed when she won the Women’s Whip-Off World Championships in Crankworx. And her jumps and whips were huge, clearly above the level of the competition. Trek picked her up as a sponsored rider and she’s off racing EWS and shooting videos with the world’s best riders.

Skiers know about Corbet’s Couloir but mountain bikers may be unfamiliar with it. It’s a harrowing drop reserved only for the best of the best skiers and snowboarders. It sits atop Rendezvous Mountain at 10,450 feet in elevation.
