Mondraker Foxy and Dune Carbon at Sea Otter

Mondraker Foxy

The Mondraker Foxy features innovative forward geometry design.

Recently launched in the United States, Mondraker is a Spanish brand bringing an impressive arsenal of carbon fiber trail bikes to this side of the Atlantic. As one of the first bike makers to feature a longer front center with a shorter stem, Mondraker introduced their forward geometry concept in 2012. The reasoning behind this design is enhanced stability at speed.

The Foxy RR SL features advanced Stealth Air Carbon construction for improved stiffness and reduced weight.

The signature “enduro handle” helps Mondraker designs stand out in the crowd.

Both the Mondraker Foxy XR and RR SL, as well as the Dune RR, feature a long top tube with 30mm stem. The Foxy is fully updated for 2018, featuring 150mm front and rear travel with 27.5 wheels. Built using Stealth Air Carbon technology, the Foxy RR SL is a little lighter than the Foxy XR. Although the RR SL features a 150mm fork, both models can run 160mm up front, with the XR coming equipped with the longer travel fork. Regardless of which type of carbon used, both models of the Foxy are beautifully sculpted, featuring long flat top tubes and the signature triangulated touch behind the head tube, referred to as the “enduro handle.”

Mondraker Dune

Featuring 170/160mm travel, the Dune RR is Mondraker’s super enduro bike.

The wishbone seat tube perfectly straddles the Fox Float X2 shock on the Dune RR.

Stepping up the travel is the carbon fiber Dune RR, what the company considers their super enduro bike. Built on a 160mm rear and 170mm travel front end, the Dune is most definitely enduro. And thanks to its relatively long wheelbase with forward geometry, especially for a 27.5 bike, the Dune is unflappable at speed in rough and rowdy terrain. The same Zero linkage found on the Foxy is also found on the Dune, deftly balancing downhill stability with uphill efficiency. The Foxy and Dune also feature Mondraker’s adjustable geometry, including adjustable headset cups for a +/- 1-degree headtube angle and 10mm of adjustability in the chainstays thanks to swappable dropouts.

Swappable dropouts can adjust chainstay length by 10mm.

The biggest question that came from looking at the Mondraker lineup was where the big-wheel bikes were. Mondraker told us there will be some big news coming on the 29er trail bike front soon, so for those of you who prefer the wagon wheels, patience will be a virtue.
