Luca Shaw and Loris Vergier are the newest addition to the Santa Cruz Syndicate.

When Steve Peat announced his retirement, we knew the winningest World Cup downhill team in history was due for a shakeup. Today, they’ve announced the new recruits: Luca Shaw and Loris Vergier.

This pair of 20-year-olds will be tackling all seven rounds of the World Cup (plus World Championships) alongside three-time World Champ Greg Minnaar. Joining them on the road will be veteran wrenches Doug Hatfield and Jason March, and long-time team manager Kathy Sessler.

These three men are the public facing side of the Syndicate team, but it’s Doug, Jason, Kathy, and all the hard work of Santa Cruz employees that keeps this trio racing.

Steve Peat will also join in the fun, sharing practical advice with the youngsters from his two decades of racing. Rumors abound that he’ll also take a turn in the announcer’s booth, but that remains to be seen.

Josh Bryceland has taken a step back from the World Cup and will no longer be racing under the Syndicate banner. Don’t worry, though, he’s still part of the Santa Cruz family and will continue to pump out 50to1 edits. You can learn more about Ratboy’s 2017 plans here.

While we will miss Peaty and Bryceland’s antics on race day, we’re excited that the Syndicate is still full of characters. For more info, visit www.santacruzbicycles.com.
