Leatt DBX 4.0 Full-Face Helmet Debuts

Mountain bike protection gurus Leatt have launched yet another high tech helmet. The new Leatt DBX 4.0 is a full-face offering that’s aimed at the aggressive all-mountain/enduro crowd.
The new Leatt DBX 4.0 comes in four colors and four sizes.
Leatt says it’s combined a lightweight, full-face design with outstanding ventilation, 360° Turbine technology, and a magnetic Fidlock buckle. The Leatt DBX 4.0 comes in four colors, is certified in all the key downhill safety categories, and has a claimed weight of 850g size small. For comparison sake, the Bell Super 3R with removable chinbar checks in at 760g size medium. Available sizes for the Leatt DBX 4.0 are S, M, L, and XL. Price is $230.

From a safety standpoint, the focus is on Leatt’s 360° Turbine technology, which utilizes an array of small rubber discs that line the inside of the helmet. They are molded from an energy-absorbing material that instantly hardens on impact. The disc-shaped implants are strategically positioned inside the helmet, and dissipate rotational, direct, and deflective impact energy, resulting in reduced head and brain injury, claims Leatt. This equates to a 30% reduction of head impact at concussion level and 40% of rotational acceleration to the head and brain.

Other features of the Leatt DBX 4.0 include a removable mouthpiece, superb ventilation thanks to 22 vents, the Fidlock magnetic closure system, a moisture-wicking, breathable, anti-odor and washable liner, precise custom fitting with the turn of a dial, and a breakaway visor that adds to the safety of the helmet and offers rotational reduction in a crash.
