Interbike 2013: Giro Shoes and Helmets

Giro Terraduro Shoe

The Terraduro is Giro’s new Enduro mountain biking race shoe, which should also be a great all-around shoe due to its flexible yet stiff sole, and well positioned lugs for hike-a-bike forays. It uses a breathable microfiber upper material, a protective rubber toe cap, and a single ratcheting buckle closure along with two Velcro straps. The footbed use shock absorbing EVA for comfort and damping, and the insole has a prominent arch and anti-microbial treatment for odor control.

They feature a sticky and durable Vibram lugged outsole and a flexible forefoot, with a stiffer shank throughout the midsole for power. They come in black and glowing red colors, retail for $180 and will be available in December. The Giro Terraduro shoes look stylish, have a nice fit and feel, and the lugs should work well for hiking. The sides and toe cap should provide excellent foot protection, while the EVA footbed should offer great damping.

Giro Cipher Full Face Helmet

The new full faced Cipher was designed for Enduro and Freeride users, and utilizes a fiberglass shell with EPS liner, plush padding and good venting. The Cipher is fully featured, and has an integrated POV camera mount, adjustable visor, removable pads and the optional TuneUps audio speaker system. The ventilation uses eight ports with internal channeling, and the design should offer good air movement. The Cipher comes in eight colors and retails for an affordable $200.

Giro also introduced many color combinations for the Giro Cipher Helmet and Jacket Shoe. Here are some of them:

Giro Aspect Helmet and Republic Shoe

Giro developed the minimalist Aspect urban/road helmet ($175), which uses their Roc Loc Air Fit system, and an ultra-suede interior and built in cloth visor. To accompany the helmet is the new lace up Republic shoes ($150), which continues the casual road line and urban look. Giro has also added a new casual road clothing lineup, for those that commute or are city dwellers or non-bike geek riders. There new apparel lineup should satisfy a wide range of people, especially those that want a more subdued and more urban look. They have shirts, shorts, jackets and other casual apparel items.
