With groundbreaking Fiberlink Technology, Finish Line is confident that its new sealant will never dry out and won’t clog up your valve cores. Will this new sealant last the life time of a tire? If so, this could be a game changer for tubeless technology.

4-ounce bottle, just enough Finish Line Tubeless Sealant for a 29-2.3 tire, a little too much for air travel.

Mtbr was able to lay hands on and witness Finish Line’s new tubeless tire sealant at Frostbike 2018. Latex and ammonia free, Finish Line’s Tubeless Tire Sealant is something different, with FiberLink technology making it possible.

When a puncture happens, fibers rush into the wound and quickly stop air loss. Harnessing DuPont Kevlar fibers, FiberLink seals are powerful and flexible once they surround a leak. As the tire rotates and flexes while it’s ridden, the FiberLink mesh tightens and reinforces itself, creating an airtight seal that is said to last the life of the tire.

Setup and inflation were similar to other sealants, except no shaking of the bottle was required. Particles are suspended in fluid and are evenly distributed throughout. Once set up Dave Vollback (Finish Line Marketing Manager) went to town inflicting tire horror movie style wounds with a pick and other tools. Upon puncture, the holes sealed instantly, with a small gasp of air and tiny bubbles on the tire surface, then bubbles stopped, problem solved. 4-5 ounces of Finish Line Tubeless Sealant will protect a 29-2.3 tire from punctures and flats.

What excited us the most was the promise of never needing to top-off the sealant again. Latex and ammonia free, Finish Line Tubeless Sealant will not cure inside the tires, so it doesn’t require checking periodically for adequate amounts. Vollback states- “This sealant will last the entire usable life of the tire. And until right now that is entirely unheard of. We are very excited to bring something completely new to the table in tire sealants.”

Since there is no liquid latex or ammonia in Finish Line sealant, it’s non-toxic, hypoallergenic and safe for carbon fiber rims. Additionally, Finish Line Tubeless Tire Sealant cleans up easily with water, so there is no need to lay down cardboard or spend your nights picking latex off. The other upside is it doesn’t cure and clog valve cores. This is a problem that plagues tire sealants, making inflation and deflation of the tire more difficult over time until the valve is cleaned.

To top it off, Finish Line is a proud supporter and sponsor of QBP Women’s Bike Mechanic Scholarship.
