Felt unveils Surplus 27.5+ mountain bikes
Felt Bicycles has joined the emerging plus bike fray, launching the new Surplus. This wide-tired bike will be available in two builds, both of which are built around a double-butted, hydroformed 6061 aluminum frame that will be available in five sizes from XS to XL. Key features include an integrated head tube, BB92 bottom bracket, and Boost 148 rear hub spacing.
The Surplus 30 sells for $2199 and comes with a RockShox Reba 27.5+ fork, Race Face Affect crankset, and Shimano Deore 1x drivetrain and brakes. The Surplus 70 is priced at $1399 and features a SR Suntour Raidon 27.5+ fork and Shimano Deore 2×10 components.
“The larger contact patch created by wider tires used on 27.5+ bikes offers greater traction, increased stability and extra cushioning over rough and rocky terrain,” says Rob Pauley, Felt’s mountain bike product manager. Here’s a look at both bikes and complete spec. Click on the images to enlarge.
