Fat bike + BMX bike equals the new SE Fat Ripper
Every year people create products that solve problems that don’t really exist. Do we really need one of these? Or this?
Most of the time these new offerings are written of as the kooky inventions of propeller heads. But sometimes they make you say, Why didn’t I think of that? The new Fat Ripper from SE Bikes, in our opinion, resides in the later category. It was designed by BMX Legend Todd Lyons, and is one part fat bike, three parts BMX shredder.
The frame borrows classic lines from the legendary PK Ripper and utilizes the same alloy Floval tubing, Looptrail rear end, and Landing Gear forks. But this new rig rolls on 3.5” tires mounted to 65mm wide Bubble Fat SE rims. Mechanical disc brakes handle slowing duties.
The Fat Ripper is only available in one size, which fits riders 5’3” and up. It has a 22.3” top tube, low 12.4” bottom bracket, and 17.8” chain stays. Retail is $849… and we don’t even want to guess what it weighs.
Still not convinced? Hit play to watch Todd put the new Fat Ripper through its paces.
