New Santa Cruz V10 27.5

We got an exclusive look at the new Syndicate Team Santa Cruz V10’s as they were being built-up at the factory…in a word: sweet.

As we reported yesterday Santa Cruz Bicycles will unleash a 27.5-inch wheel version of their V10 downhill bike at the Mont Sainte Anne, Canada round of the UCI World Cup this weekend. We stopped by the factory last week as mechanics frantically built-up the new bikes for Santa Cruz Syndicate riders Greg Minnaar, Josh Brcyeland and Steve Peat.

In addition to the larger wheels, Santa Cruz Marketing Director Will Ockelton hinted at some other tweaks but wouldn’t get into specifics. The bike appears to have two shock mounting positions, and Minnaar’s bike was fitted with a prototype Chris King Buzz headset that appears to effectively lengthen the top tube by pushing the fork’s steerer tube forward in the frame.

Visually, the new bikes are stunning with a tasteful gloss white and red team livery that’s complimented by a matte black finish around the suspension pivots and rear shock mount.

The team bike builds include FOX 40 RC2 forks paired with FOX’s RAD racing development rear shocks, Enve M90 rims laced to Chris King hubs, a Shimano Saint drivetrain and brakes, Enve carbon handlebars and seatposts, Maxxis High Roller II tires. Minnaar’s bike was equipped with his signature P30 Gamut chainguide, while Bryceland’s bike was fitted with an e-thirteen LG1+ Turbo backplate when we saw it. Minnaar runs Crank Brothers Mallet DH Race pedals while Ratboy goes with Shimano DX clip-ins.

No word yet on retail pricing or availability, but we suspect that info will be available at the upcoming Eurobike trade show in late August if not sooner.
